Zidane: I like Pogba, but…

Zinedine Zidane admits to liking Paul Pogba but feels it’s hard to improve on the squad Real Madrid already have. ‘We just won the Champions League…’

Madrid have been strongly linked to Juventus midfielder Pogba and Zidane confirmed his admiration for the France international, but is aware of the immense competition for his signature.

“I’m happy with the squad I have. It’s hard to improve. I like Paul, he is very good, but I’m not the only one. All teams want good players. At the moment he is Juve’s,” Zizou pointed out, AS reports, as Madrid begin their pre-season in Montreal.

“At the moment what I’m thinking of is that I’m missing the players to work, but that’s the Euros. The goal is to prepare well for the European Super Cup against Sevilla on August 9. That’s very, very important to us.

“The most important thing is to work. We have 10 days to work and they’re the most important. We’ll have 10 days and three games after and that’s what’s most important to me. Then, gradually, we’ll decide what we’re going to do. And you don’t know what will happen until August 31. We’re happy with the squad we have, and we’ve just won the Champions League…”

Alvaro Morata is the only signing made so far by Madrid, the youth set-up graduate repatriated from Juventus, and Zidane confirmed his pleasure at the striker’s return.

“He’s a player of this team. He’s back and I’m happy. This is his home, he knows Madrid and, the truth is, we’re really happy Alvaro is with us and me most of us,” Zidane added.

“After that, we’ll see. We have a very big squad and everyone is going to be important. Alvaro is another player.”
