Mesa to Sevilla breaks down?

Roque Mesa’s proposed transfer from Las Palmas to Sevilla has reportedly broken down at the 11th hour.

According to AS, everything indicated on Friday that Mesa would complete his move to Sevilla by the end of the weekend, yet the deal now seems to be off.

The Andalusians are said to have agreed an €8.5m fee with Las Palmas for the midfielder and agreed personal terms with him, which would have seen the 27-year-old earn three times his current salary.

The islanders hoped to replace Mesa with Hernan Toledo, but the Argentine starlet has since joined Fiorentina, prompting the former to up their asking price to €10m and Sevilla rejecting their request.

“They have to respect and pay what we consider fair,” President Miguel Angel Ramirez told AS.

“The lad has a release clause of €30m and we asked them for €10m. They’ve shown that they don’t value the player like they say they do.”
