Madrid ‘ask for more Pogba time’

Real Madrid have reportedly asked Paul Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola for more time as the Juventus midfielder’s future remains the subject of intense speculation.

According to AS, Madrid’s most recent talks with Raiola took place last week in which they asked the agent for more time to assess how they could carry out the transfer.

However, the €120m fee being quoted would require a big-money sale from Los Blancos, who are also accused by the newspaper of “lacking definition in their project”, making short-term thinking difficult.

Madrid’s gross debt stands at €620m, a figure amplified by pieces of poor business, as seen by the losses made on Asier Illarramendi, who was signed for €32.2m but returned to Real Sociedad for just €15m, and Lucas Silva – the Brazilian having arrived for €14m but is closer to another loan spell away than the first team.

Furthermore, their recent Galactico signings of Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez were funded by the sales of Mesut Ozil, Gonzalo Higuain, Angel Di Maria, Alvaro Morata and Xabi Alonso.

Despite Pogba continuing to “dream of being at Zinedine Zidane’s disposal”, The Sun claims United are closing in on a deal to re-sign the player, who could even undergo a medical on Tuesday.

Juve, on the other hand, have insisted that there is no truth in such reports and are confident about keeping the 23-year-old next season.
