Madrid & Atleti bans ‘around corner’

Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid’s FIFA bans for two transfer windows are said to be ”around the corner” as their appeals are set to be rejected.

According to Marca, both Madrid and Atleti “are not in an optimistic mood” about the outcome of their appeals after the two clubs were found to have breached legislation regarding the signing of international minors back in January.

Once FIFA’s Appeals Committee make its ruling public, however, Madrid and Atletico will both ask the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) for an injunction, which is expected to be granted for a maximum of five days.

CAS are then likely to uphold the bans, although there will be a subsequent deadline for appeals of up to six months after its decision, allowing Los Blancos and their arch-rivals to continue signing players this summer and possibly next January.
