Real Betis have announced the signing of former Sporting Gijon striker Antonio Sanabria from Roma in a complex deal.
Sanabria has put pen to paper on a five-year contract with Betis, who have paid a reported €7.5m for his services, but the complications begin with Roma retaining 50 percent of any sell-on fee.
The Giallorossi can then repurchase the Paraguayan for €11m next summer and €14.5m in 2018, while the sell-on clause is in effect for each of the five years the player is contracted to Betis.
Sanabria, 20, is said to have been “one of new sporting director Miguel Torrecilla’s main objectives”, veteran Ruben Castro and rookie Alex Alegria previously the Andalusians’ only forwards.
He began his career with Barcelona before joining Roma in 2014 and spending time on loan at Sassuolo for legal reasons and most recently Sporting, where he scored 11 goals in 30 La Liga appearances last season.
