Chelsea bid €60m for Morata?

Real Madrid have reportedly turned down a €60m bid from Chelsea for Alvaro Morata, although the Blues remain the striker’s likeliest destination.

According to Marca, Morata is still expected to join Chelsea this summer, but the West Londoners must up their bid nearer to €75m after Los Blancos rejected their first offer, presented by the player’s agent Juanma Lopez on Friday.

Chelsea’s interest in Morata stems from new Coach Antonio Conte, who brought him to Juventus in 2014 shortly before his resignation.

The Italian is keen to pair the 23-year-old with fellow Spaniard Diego Costa in a two-man attack to spearhead his 3-5-2 system.

Madrid had hoped for Morata to see out preseason with the club, but they are also aware that their €75m asking price may never come close to being met again.

The former Juve attacker scored three goals at Euro 2016 for Spain, and he is said to have doubts over his first-team chances at the Santiago Bernabeu while the ‘BBC’ stand before him.

Arsenal and Manchester United have also been credited with an interest in Morata, who was bought back by Madrid for €30m just three weeks ago.
