N’Diaye passes Villarreal medical

Real Betis midfielder Alfred N’Diaye has passed a medical with Villarreal ahead of his €9m switch to El Madrigal.

According to Marca, N’Diaye will put pen to paper on a four or five-year contract with Villarreal by Monday after a fee of €7.5m plus €1.5m in variables was agreed between the two clubs.

The former Sunderland man marks Betis’ biggest sale in three years since Benat Etxebarria, who joined Athletic Bilbao for €10m.

The Andalusians are expected to use the N’Diaye money on a new centre-back, although 25 percent of it will cover an outstanding debt.

The 26-year-old initially joined Betis on loan for the second half of the 2013-14 campaign but was unable to stop the side’s relegation to La Segunda.

Nonetheless, the club shelled out €2.5m to keep the Senegal international permanently as he went on to help the team back into the top flight and achieve a mid-table finish at the first time of asking.
