Monchi: Ganso, Allen fit the profile

Sevilla sporting director Monchi confirms interest in Paulo Henrique Ganso and Joe Allen but ‘they’re not the only ones on the list.’

Monchi has confirmed a number of transfer targets to Estadio Deportivo as he looks to build a squad for new Coach Jorge Sampaoli, and acknowledged the previously-rumoured Ganso and Allen were among the options.

“It will take all afternoon to name everyone and I don’t like talking about players who aren’t Sevilla’s. Ganso and Allen aren’t the only ones on the list. They meet the profile, but they don’t have to be the ones who come,” he said.

“Matias Kranevitter is closer to coming than yesterday. The deal isn’t closed. We’re more optimistic than yesterday. We’re working out the differences. Until it’s closed it can’t be taken for granted. We hope to hear in the coming days.

“Luis Alberto? There’s an offer and we’re evaluating it. Negotiations haven’t started. He has features valid to the game we have. We’re considering other names. There’s no decision. If we’re considering it it’s because we think he could be as interesting as other names.

“The story of Wissam Ben Yedder is much more the Press and social media than us. Right now he’s not a Sevilla priority. We have other priorities in his position. There’s nothing immediate.”

Monchi also touched on a rumoured departure, that of Vicente Iborra, who has been linked with Valencia and Premier League Sunderland.

“Today he is a Sevilla player and as with any player we listen to offers. If we get any we’ll talk to the player but right now the idea is he’ll continue here,” he explained.
