Barcelona have confirmed that they have exercised their buyback option for midfielder Denis Suarez.
In a statement on Barca’s official website, the club have paid Villarreal €3.25m to repurchase Denis, who will undergo a medical on Tuesday before being presented 24 hours later.
The attacking midfielder, 22, has signed a four-year contract with the option for a fifth, depending on the number of appearances he makes in the fourth season, and agreed a release clause of €50m.
Denis initially joined Barca from Manchester City in the summer of 2013 and spent the following season with La Blaugrana’s B team.
He then joined Sevilla on loan for the 2014-15 campaign as part of the deal that took Ivan Rakitic to Catalonia and proceeded to join Villarreal, where he played a key role in the side’s qualification for next month’s Champions League playoffs.
