Bale in line for Madrid pay rise

Real Madrid have reportedly opened contract talks with Gareth Bale and a deal is expected to be agreed that pays more than €350,000 per week.

The Daily Telegraph claims Madrid and Bale’s camp are discussing a new contract longer than the three years remaining on his existing terms that would pay £300,000, around €362,000.

Madrid would like the deal agreed in the next few weeks as they want to send a message to interested parties that the Wales international will not be leaving Santiago Bernabeu, Manchester United known to be admirers of the former Tottenham Hotspur winger.

United looked into a move last summer when Louis van Gaal was employed as the Coach but Bale never considered a return to the Premier League as he is settled where he is, and the terms of his new Madrid contract mean he could stay in La Liga for the rest of his career.

AS believes Madrid will give Bale an extra two years on his current contract, tying him down to 2021 and making him the club’s second-highest paid player, behind only Cristiano Ronaldo.
