Madrid ‘raise Alaba offer’

Real Madrid haven’t given up on Bayern Munich’s David Alaba, instead increasing their offer to €65m.

AS notes Los Blancos’ initial bid was set at €50m and Bayern have yet to send an official response, but it’s not expected the money on the table would be enough for the Bundesliga club to budge in their refusal to sell.

Bayern have long insisted Alaba would only be sold for €80m, a price set high as to scare off interest from elsewhere, with Barcelona and both Manchester United and Manchester City having looked into signing the Austria international.

Carlo Ancelotti, the incoming Bayern Coach, has made it clear he wants Alaba to play a major role in his team, though Alaba could be tempted by Madrid, who in May sent an emissary to Bavaria to meet with Bayern and try, unsuccessfully, to talk the club into lowering their asking price.
