Official: Malaga sign Keko & Jony

Malaga have completed the signings of Keko and Jony on four-year contracts after the pair left Eibar and Sporting Gijon respectively.

Transfermarkt reports Keko has joined for a fee of €3.7m from Eibar, while Jony arrives on a free transfer following the expiration of his Sporting contract.

The two wingers, both 24, were unveiled to 2,500 fans of the Andalusian club at La Rosaleda on Saturday, accompanied by sporting director Francesc Arnau.

“Every player is ambitious and aspires to new heights. The confidence they have shown in me was what made me opt for them,” Jony began.

“The project is about young players with the desire of showing [their quality] and Malaga being in European competition.

“Hopefully I’ll be here celebrating the European positions in the coming year. The project is beautiful and exciting. I like challenges and I’m ambitious.”

Keko added: “It’s an ambitious project, with important players, but the field is where we’ll be judged.

“The squad that is being put together has a lot of potential, and each game will tell us where we can finish.

Concluding the presentation, Arnau noted: “It took a long time to get them here, but we’re going to enjoy them.

“They are full of enthusiasm and will transmit [their enthusiasm] to us. They’re young but prepared.

“They have the foundations [to be successful] and will help us succeed.”
