Morata: I have nothing to prove

Alvaro Morata insists “I have nothing to prove” to Zinedine Zidane after warning Real Madrid that he must feel valued by the club.

Madrid recently redeemed their €30m repurchase option for Morata after the striker had spent the last two seasons at Juventus, but he made it clear he would only stay at the Santiago Bernabeu if he was given a fair crack of the whip.

“I agree to be one more and fight for my place, but my desire is to be happy and at where I want to be,” the Spain international told Cuatro.

“I don’t have anything to prove to Zidane, I’m not a Castilla player who’s earned the opportunity of a preseason with Real Madrid.

“[Madrid] will decide if I’m qualified to be a Real Madrid player. I will give everything to try to fight for a spot and, if not, another solution will be found.

“I’m not thinking about my future much because I’m here playing for the Spanish national team, trying to win a European Championshipl.

“At the moment I’m calm, and I’ll wait and see what happens. Right now, I’m a Real Madrid player and I can’t say anything else.

“I’d love to stay at the club, but I want to be important for the team and fight for my place.”
