Bordalas leaves Alaves

Jose Bordalas won’t be on the Alaves bench for their return to La Liga after it was confirmed the Coach is to leave the newly-promoted club.

Bordalas took the Basques back to the top flight for the first time in a decade after he was hired in summer 2015 but AS reports he has been dispensed with, despite his contract automatically extending for a further 12 months with promotion.

There is no word on a successor as yet as the likes of Gaiza Garitano and Paco Jemez, who had been touted, have been appointed at Deportivo La Coruna and Granada respectively.

AS also contacted Joaquin Caparros, who was linked with the post, and he insisted he hadn’t been approached either.
