Ancelotti: Odegaard a PR signing

Carlo Ancelotti claims Real Madrid signed Norwegian starlet Martin Odegaard as a ‘public relations coup.’

Odegaard was rated as one of the most promising teenagers in world football when he moved to Los Blancos in January 2015 but his development hasn’t gone according to plan, and AS reports Ancelotti has written in his new book, Quiet Leadership, that Odegaard was signed for non-football reasons.

“When Florentino [Perez] buys a Norwegian footballer you just have to accept it. The President also decided he would play three games with the first team as a public relations coup,” Ancelotti revealed.

“He may be the best player in the world but I don’t care because I never asked. It was a public relations signing.”
