Juve ready €40m Gomes offer

Juventus are prepared to offer Valencia €40m for midfielder Andre Gomes, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italians have already signed Barcelona’s Dani Alves and Miralem Pjanic of Roma for next season, and are ready to add to that by testing Los Che’s resolve to hang on to Portugal international Gomes.

It is believed contact between the two clubs was made in Lyon last week, when Juve let it be known they would offer €30m for the 22-year-old, but with Valencia wanting around €65m for him they are now ready to up that to €40m.

Juventus feel the fact they can offer Gomes Champions League football next season could be a deciding factor, given that other suitors such as Chelsea and Manchester United would be unable to do so.

Gomes initially joined Valencia on loan from Benfica ahead of the 2014-15 season, but the deal was made permanent 12 months later when the player signed a five-year contract at Mestalla for a reported fee of €15m.
