Modric misses Croatia training

Luka Modric’s participation in Croatia’s match against Spain on Tuesday looks increasingly unlikely after the Real Madrid midfielder missed training on Sunday.

Modric pulled up with a thigh strain after an hour of Croatia’s 2-2 draw with Czech Republic last Friday, and he joined former Atletico Madrid striker Mario Mandzukic in being absent from Croatia’s last training session before the team head to Bordeaux for their final Group D game.

Croatia boss Ante Cacic claimed over the weekend that Modric was not necessarily ruled out, with tests showing no serious injury, but the Coach is not expected to take a chance on the former Tottenham Hotspur star, who felt similar pain in the Champions League final last month.

Vedran Corluka, Ivan Perisic and Marcelo Brozovic all came through the session unscathed, however, and will start against the reigning European champions.
