Griezmann ‘gets angry in Spanish’

Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann reveals “I think in French but get angry in Spanish” after reflecting on his split loyalties between the two nations.

Griezmann joined Real Sociedad when he was just 13, before moving to Atleti in the summer of 2014, and the attacker admits that while his international allegiance to France was never in question, he has felt Spanish “in daily life” for the past 12 years.

“I think in French but get angry in Spanish. I don’t know why,” he told Le Parisien.

“I’ve always had the same idea of playing for Les Bleus [France] because I was born in France and grew up watching [Zinedine] Zidane and [Thierry] Henry at the 1998 World Cup.

“[On facing Spain in the final], only if we win. If Spain win, besides the disappointment, [my Atleti teammates] would laugh at me.

“No matter who our opponents are, we must reach the final and win it. In that case, I’d return to Spain feeling 5cm taller!”
