Modric to miss Spain game?

Luka Modric is expected to miss Croatia’s Euro 2016 match against Spain next week after suffering a thigh injury in Friday’s 2-2 draw with Czech Republic.

Modric’s substitution midway through the second half was considered the catalyst for Croatia losing their two-goal lead on the Czechs, and the Real Madrid midfielder has been advised to sit out his country’s final Group D game.

“The situation isn’t very good. He strained his adductor and may not play in the next game. He should rest and make himself ready for the second round,” team doctor Boris Nemec told Croatian television, Marca reports.

“[His swollen adductor] will take several days to soothe, and the match against Spain is only in or three or four days. That won’t be enough.”
