Valencia ‘memorable’ for Feghouli

Sofiane Feghouli insists he has good memories of Valencia despite turning down the club’s offer of a new contract.

The Algerian winger’s economic pretensions were reportedly too high for Los Che and he ended up signing for Premier League outfit West Ham United.

However, the 26-year-old maintains he leaves Mestalla with his head held high and can say goodbye with a clear conscience.

“I leave Valencia with my mind at ease because inside me I know I gave the maximum and I thank the Valencia fans for everything,” said Feghouli, in an interview with fichajes.com.

“I have good memories of my time there and for me it was a great experience, which I really enjoyed. I can’t say anything else but positive things about my stay in Spain.

“I went through good times and bad times, but Valencia is a club that allowed me to become a better player and gain experience, especially in European and La Liga games that were played to such a high level.”

Feghouli maintains he is looking forward to a new challenge in the Premier League and says it is the place to be for any footballer.

“I’m happy with the choice of West Ham in England and they were my first choice right from the time I spoke to the boss Slaven Bilic, who showed a real interest in me.

“The club has just completed a great season and is on the rise, with a new stadium and a good transfer policy. There is great passion and everything convinced me.

“The Premier League is very attractive and I think a player must have played there some time in his career to feel really complete,” he asserted.
