Gareth Bale says he was “proud” of Wales´ performance in their 2-1 Euro 2016 defeat to England in Lens.
The 26-year-old Real Madrid star put the Welsh in front from a long range free-kick just before half-time, but goals from substitutes Jamie Vardy and Daniel Sturridge gave England all three points to put them top of Group B.
“The tournament is not over yet and we are still in it, so we’ll go into the next game against Russia with even more strength,” Bale told the BBC.
“We’ll keep fighting all the way. We knew that even if today’s result wasn’t great we’d still be in the thick of things.
“Obviously, it’s a massive disappointment but I’m very proud of everybody. We gave everything, as we always do, and as I’ve said before if we go out and give 100 per cent then we can have no regrets. We can’t do any more.
“Inside we are still strong, happy, and we’re enjoying the experience. We still have one more game to go in this group.”
