Villarreal agree Cheryshev return?

Villarreal have reportedly agreed a deal worth €7m with Real Madrid to bring back Denis Cheryshev on a permanent basis.

According to Marca, an agreement is in place for Cheryshev to re-join Villarreal on a five-year contract, with only official confirmation missing.

The move comes after several weeks of negotiations, which were strained by the Yellow Submarine’s supposed failure to notify Los Blancos of the winger’s Copa del Rey ban, his parent club subsequently expelled from the competition for playing him against Cadiz last December.

Cheryshev is currently recovering from surgery to correct his long-standing muscle problems, having missed out on a place in the Russia squad at Euro 2016 as a result, and thus will not be fit for Villarreal’s Champions League playoff in mid-August.

The 25-year-old, who spent the second half of last season at Valencia, scored seven goals and made 10 assists in 33 matches during the 2014-15 campaign, while on loan at El Madrigal.

Villarreal are believed to be eyeing up to seven more new arrivals this summer, one of whom could be Cheryshev’s Madrid teammate Diego Llorente.
