Emery confirms PSG offer to Sevilla

It’s reported that Unai Emery has confirmed to Sevilla he has an offer from Paris Saint-Germain and he’s ‘closer than ever’ to taking it.

AS says the Coach has communicated the approach to his club and is preparing to depart Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, with a decision possible ‘in the next few hours’ after PSG made an offer Emery couldn’t refuse.

No financial terms are mooted by the report but AS say Emery has in recent days met in Valencia with Olivier Letang, PSG’s deputy sporting director, and it was then the three-time Europa League winner received a firm proposal from the Ligue 1 champions.

PSG will pay Sevilla €2m to get Emery out of his contract and he has been promised by President Nasser Al-Khelaifi that he will have a say in the signings the club makes this summer.

Sevilla are considering who to appoint in Emery’s place, with Quique Sanchez Flores suggested, though he is also close to an agreement with Espanyol.

David Soria, the Sevilla goalkeeper who started the Europa League Final win over Liverpool in May, has also been quoted as saying goodbye to Emery when speaking to an official club channel.

“I want to thank you for everything you did for me, you were the one who gave me my debut in the elite. I want to wish you all the luck,” Soria said.
