Sarabia close to Valencia

Valencia lead the chase for Getafe’s Pablo Sarabia but need to sell before they can confirm his signing.

AS reports Los Che and Sevilla are in the running for the midfielder but the former believe Sarabia is as good as theirs, having first made contact in January when Sarabia had six months to go on his contract.

Sarabia has since renewed with the Madrid club but Getafe’s relegation means he is certain to depart, and is available for less than €1m.

However, Valencia need to clear space in their budget for the 23-year-old as to add him now would take them past La Liga’s financial restrictions, a situation already confirmed by sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch.

Alvaro Negredo, Aderlan Santos, Aymen Abdennour, Pablo Piatti and Diego Alves are among the names suggested by AS on the brink of leaving Mestalla.

AS also notes Villarreal and Watford wanted Sarabia in January but Quique Sanchez Flores was the driving force behind interest from the Hornets and he has since left the club, while the Yellow Submarine have turned their attention elsewhere.
