Colombia ‘alarmed’ by James injury

Colombia are reportedly “alarmed” by the potential shoulder injury James Rodriguez suffered in Friday’s Copa America opener against the United States.

Colombia began their centennial campaign with a 2-0 win against the hosts, but their victory was overshadowed by a possible injury to James, who fell to the ground awkwardly after a foul by Michael Bradley on 68 minutes.

He immediately went over to the Tricolor bench, where he sought medical assistance while clutching his left shoulder with his right hand, but the treatment lasted just five minutes as he then requested to be substituted.

Colombia have yet to issue a medical report on the extent of James’ injury, although AS claims the country are “alarmed” by the prospect of losing their talisman, who also scored a 42rd-minute penalty.

This is not the first time the midfielder has been affected by shoulder problems, having encountered similar trouble in Real Madrid’s Champions League last-16 trip to Roma last season.
