Paco Jemez says there’s still a chance he could remain at Rayo Vallecano, but a switch to Deportivo La Coruna is looking likely.
Jemez’s contract with Rayo expires this summer and he has turned down one offer of a renewal already, the Madrid club having been relegated at the end of the season, but he told Cope that talks could resume even though he’s looking for another club.
“In this life I don’t want to rule anything out. I spoke with the President [Raul Martin Prensa] and our positions are far apart, because I don’t want to negotiate and I’m not,” Jemez insisted, AS reports.
“Rayo opened the door to train in the Segunda if I wanted, but with two conditions. A salary, with a reduction, and the other to do with the sporting side, to be an important person and decide what happens at the club. Not the only one to decide, but one of the important people.
“Is the door closed? The President can always pick up the phone. Until I have a team I don’t rule anything out, but it’s true today our positions are not in sync and I understand I will be moving to other projects.
“My Rayo salary? Very personal. I was well paid by Rayo, but I earned it. They paid me like a big team.”
Rayo’s sporting director, Felipe Minambres, is also leaving, and should soon be confirmed by Celta Vigo, goalkeeper David Cobeno in line to be his successor.
