Alaves back in La Liga

Alaves will return to La Liga next season after a 2-0 win over Numancia confirmed their place in the top flight.

The Basques have been out of the top flight for a decade but with a round of games in the Segunda do go can’t finish lower than second, ensuring automatic promotion.

Pepe Bordalas’ team lead second place Leganes by three points and have a four point cushion on Nastic in third, with the final weekend of the second tier’s regular season to come next week.

Alaves were last in the Primera in 2005-06 and had dropped as low as Segunda B before rising to the peak after three years in the second division.

A budget of €50m is reported by AS for next season and there’s a need to determine if Bordalas is to continue as Coach, and if Javier Zubillaga will remain as sporting director.
