Sergio Busquets has expressed his delight at signing a contract extension with Barcelona as “I’ve always wanted this”.
Busquets put pen to paper on a long-term deal with Barca on Friday, which will keep him at the club until 2021, with the option of two more years, and the midfielder asserted staying put was always his intention.
“I’m delighted by this news,” he said at the opening of a sports ground, named after Johan Cruyff, on Friday.
“The negotiations went at a normal pace and I hope everything now goes just as well, at least. What we’ve been doing [referring to Barca’s success] is the right way to go. I’ve always wanted this.”
