Jemez rejects Rayo offer

Paco Jemez looks like leaving Rayo Vallecano after rejecting the club’s latest contract renewal, with Espanyol lurking.

AS reports Jemez turned down a new deal at relegated Rayo that would have made him the best-paid Coach in the Segunda and Espanyol are interested in appointing him for next season to replace Constantin Galca.

Jemez could be joined in leaving Vallecas by sporting director Felipe Minambres, who is wanted at Celta Vigo, Celta having lost Miguel Torrecilla to Real Betis late in the season, though Minambres is under contract for another 12 months.

Luis Milla, the former Spain Under-21 Coach, is among those touted as a replacement for Jemez, and has spoken about the possible vacancy.

“It’s all speculation. If Rayo are interested then it’s a great honour that they might think of me,” he said.

“Rayo have a Coach now and that has to be respected. From there, we wait.”
