Gracia: Rubin offer irresistible

Javi Gracia has said goodbye to Malaga, confirming he has accepted an ‘irresistible’ offer from Rubin Kazan.

Malaga on Tuesday confirmed Gracia’s exit with reports claiming he would be paid around €4m-a-year by the Russians, an increase of almost 10 times his salary at La Rosaleda, and Gracia told the Press on Wednesday that he couldn’t turn down the approach.

“It’s been a very difficult decision and I very much appreciate what this club has done for me. Rubin Kazan have made an effort for me with a truly irresistible offer. My coaching staff is coming too. I want to say thank you,” he began, AS reports, noting Juande Ramos is in line for the vacancy.

“I want to thank the Sheikh [Al-Thani] and his family for being close despite the distance between us for opening doors for my future. Thanks to the people of this club for their love. They are the best support. Thanks to those who brought me here. The future of the club is in good hands.

“Thanks to the people who work in the shadows, the offices, the ground staff, who make us feel as one. Thanks to my coaching staff, my second family, our delegate, the staff, and the whole squad. Without exception. They’ve enabled me to give my best. Professionals.

“These have been two challenging years. I tried to care for the youth system and the situation is much better than I found on my arrival. I’ve contributed to stabilising the club and increasing the value of the squad. Thanks to the fans. I’m proud to have been part of this great club and thank you for making me happy. I’ll miss you. Thank you all.”
