Jose Mourinho reportedly wants a reunion with Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema when he takes over at Manchester United.
Mourinho and Benzema were together at Santiago Bernabeu and with Mourinho widely expected to replace Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford, reports from Britain say Benzema is top of his wanted list, along with Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The Portuguese would then continue to use Wayne Rooney in the deeper role which he took under Van Gaal, and Ibra and Benz would be the United front two.
Benzema is however negotiating a new contract with Madrid and if it is signed, he’ll be tied to the club until the summer of 2020, having turned down United when he moved to Spain from Lyon in 2009.
The striker did however appear to share an image on Instagram in which a piece of United merchandise was visible, leading to suggestions he has a soft spot for the Red Devils, though a later post declared he was ‘Madrid forever.’
