Neymar to sign six-year deal

Neymar is set to renew his Barcelona contract until 2022, a year longer than originally discussed, with the agreement to be confirmed shortly.

Mundo Deportivo notes it was expected that Neymar would sign for another five years and it’s said the extra 12 months shows the Brazilian’s commitment to the Catalans, who will raise his transfer clause to €220m.

Neymar’s clause previously stood at €190m and it had been suggested that Manchester United were willing to meet it, but it is hoped the extra €30m wards off any suitors from outside Camp Nou.

It’s suggested Barca would raise it higher if they felt they could but don’t want to breach the €250m of Lionel Messi’s clause, and Neymar is also getting a pay rise but again, will remain a little bellow the Argentine.

Barca are hopeful the contract will be signed after Sunday’s Copa del Rey Final against Sevilla as any details left outstanding are minor.
