Ceballos courts controversy again

Real Betis starlet Dani Ceballos has courted controversy again after reportedly telling Getafe’s Juan Cala, “let’s see if you rot in La Segunda and disappear”.

According to Cadena SER, Ceballos was caught up in a melee at the end of match, in which Betis beat Getafe 2-1, and was heard uttering the unsavoury remark to the former Cardiff City and Sevilla defender, along with a member of Los Azulones’ coaching staff.

Betis boss Juan Merino was quizzed on the 19-year-old’s actions after the game and conceded: “I’m very clear on this.

“When you’re winning and [your opponents] have one less player, there are ways of behaving, and Dani has to learn to respect his opponents.

“What he said bothered Cala. You have to compete with respect, Dani has to improve on certain things so that he becomes a better professional and a better person.”

Ceballos was also accused of being overly physical by sections of the media in Betis’ 2-0 defeat to Barcelona a fortnight ago as he was considered lucky not to have seen red in the game.
