Esnaider: Getafe must show ambition

Juan Esnaider has urged his Getafe players to show “more ambition than Real Betis” when they travel to Benito Villamarin in Sunday’s relegation decider.

Two wins and a draw in Getafe’s last three games have left them a point adrift of safety in La Liga ahead of this weekend’s final round, and Esnaider made it clear that his side were only thinking about winning a third time, amidst talk of ‘maletines’.

“We have to win [on his side playing in another final], but we have the same idea as always,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“I expect our idea to be one of winning. We believe in ourselves and know we have to win.

“I see the team very prepared for the game. Now we’ll see if we’re able to win.

“We have little nerves and our anxiety is fading. The best thing for us is to approach the match in a good way.

“We’re prepared to play for ourselves, but Betis concern us because they have some very good players.

“I’ve been watching their games and they play attacking football.

“We can’t ask for more [from our fans]. It’s important to be surrounded by people who love you.

“[On briefcases], every year there’s a lot of talk. We’re a team who have something to play for and they don’t, so people have had their say.

“We can’t have any more responsibility than we do now, and we’re ready.

“If Betis have more ambition than us then that’s bad.”
