Ronaldo rubbishes injury talk

Cristiano Ronaldo has rubbished claims that he was substituted midway through Real Madrid’s 2-0 win at Deportivo La Coruna on Saturday with an injury.

Ronaldo scored both of Madrid’s goals at Riazor, which ultimately were not enough to steal La Liga from under Barcelona’s noses, but he did not come back out for the second half, prompting suspicions his “bruised foot” – cited by Coach Zinedine Zidane after the game – was worse than first thought.

However, Marca quotes the Portuguese as sarcastically saying in the mixed zone: “How am I [feeling]? Did you not see the match?”

Ronaldo was also deprived of the chance of a third straight Pichichi Trophy, having seen his campaign halted with 35 goals – five less than eventual winner Luis Suarez.

The newspaper adds the 31-year-old now has a fortnight to regain full fitness, with “alarm bells ringing in the dugout” when he clashed with Depor defender Alejandro Arribas .
