Fernando Llorente is hoping “luck” is on Sevilla’s side when they contest the Copa del Rey and Europa League finals later this month.
Sevilla travel on Saturday to Athletic Bilbao, Llorente’s boyhood club – whom he left under acrimony in 2013 and reached the Europa and Copa finals with a year before, only to suffer defeat in each – but he is ready to make up for those losses, albeit in Sevilla colours.
“It was a wonderful year,” the striker said at a media event sponsored by UEFA before the trip to San Mames.
“I lost two finals then. Now we’ll see if I am lucky and win them this time around.
“We’ll focus on the European final first. We’ll figure out the Copa later.
“The [Europa] final comes at a good time, but Liverpool are tough opponents who are used to playing in these kinds of games.
“I’ve never dropped my arms [on his first season at Sevilla], but Saturday’s game will be a good test for Wednesday’s final.”
