Denis Suarez will become Barcelona’s first summer signing after terms were agreed for his return to the club.

The 22-year-old moved to Villarreal before the start of this season for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around €4m, with Barca inserting a buy-back clause into the player’s contract which they will now exercise.

Reports in Spain say Barca and Villarreal have sealed details of the agreement for the attacking midfielder, who is due to travel to the Catalan capital to complete the move after the Copa del Rey final.

Barca officially communicated earlier this week that they will pay the €3.25m clause which allows them to bring Suarez back to the Camp Nou, but if he is sold within his first season then Villarreal will receive 50 per cent of the sale.

If he is sold the season after, then that figure will drop to 25 per cent for a player who has enjoyed an impressive campaign at El Madrigal, featuring in 32 La Liga games and scoring four goals.
