Casilla: Not in my wildest dreams…

Kiko Casilla was thrilled with his performance for Real Madrid against Valencia, though the club allegedly stopped him answering a reporter in Catalan.

Casilla, who is from the province of Tarragona, in Catalonia, deputised for Keylor Navas against Los Che and helped Los Blancos to a 3-2 win that keeps alive their hopes of catching La Liga leaders Barcelona.

“It was clear when I came to the club, I knew it was going to be difficult to play every game I would like. The important thing when you’re not playing is to be with the group and to do the best possible when there’s someone absent,” the former Espanyol goalkeeper said, AS reports.

“Even in my wildest dreams I wouldn’t have thought of a game like this. I’m very happy with my performance, but above all the victory.”

AS notes elsewhere that Casilla was prevented answering a reporter’s question in Catalan by the club’s Press department, and Casilla moved on to further analyse the match and the title race.

“Valencia are not a bad team. They’re a great team, Andre Gomes is very good. We did enough but they dominated in the second half,” he acknowledged.

“We heard of Atletico Madrid’s defeat at the end. We don’t depend on ourselves but we will go to [Deportivo La Coruna] to win our game. It will be difficult, when the chances come we have to take them, but I am convinced with the squad we have we can achieve this.”
