Sevilla right-back Mariano has respect for Europa League Final opponents Liverpool and believes the feeling is mutual.
Mariano scored the third goal of his team’s 3-1 win over Shakhtar Donetsk at the same time the Reds were dispatching Villarreal in the other semi-final, his first goal for the club.
“It was a golazo. A while ago my teammates told me I had to score and today was a good day, in a semi-final. I’m very happy and now I’ll enjoy it with my peers,” he said, AS reports.
“I think we’re playing well and now we play to enjoy the final. This was a bit different, as a semi-final, our third in a row and now we want to go to Basel and win.
“Liverpool, a great team, come now but so are Sevilla and I think they have respect for us and we need to have respect for them too.”
