Bruno: Villarreal on the attack

Bruno Soriano says Villarreal will attack Liverpool in the second leg of their Europa League semi-final.

The Yellow Submarine have a 1-0 lead from the first leg a week ago and the captain dismissed the suggestion the team will set out to protect their slim advantage at Anfield.

“We’ll try not to suffer as much as Atletico Madrid [against Bayern Munich] in a very hard and difficult match. Something similar could happen and we wouldn’t reject it. We come with the intention of attacking and not just defending. We want to create danger, because that will be very important,” Bruno said, AS reports.

“The fans’ support is essential and they are close to us. We saw that in the first leg. It’s very important for us. I’m sure we will have that support. That’s clear. I hope in the end that we’re all happy.

“I don’t know that we’re owed a final, but we have that ambition and we really want to play one. It’s a big ambition for us. We have the opportunity and for that we will have to go out very strong.”

Bruno has been with Villarreal since the club was in the Segunda and says that while the last four of a European competition only a few years later couldn’t be predicted, he was always sure better times lay ahead.

“From the relegation and subsequent rise a lot has happened and almost all of it is good. I thought we would have a competitive team in the future and we would have a strong team for games like this. I didn’t think it’d be so quickly, but I was always confident,” he added.
