Oblak: Scoring more important!

Jan Oblak wasn’t overly bothered by conceding against Bayern Munich as Atletico Madrid needed to score to reach the Champions League Final.

The goalkeeper picked the ball out of the back of his net for the first time since early April as Atleti lost 2-1 on the night but reached San Siro on away goals, through Antoine Griezmann.

“We knew this game would be tough. First half we were really bad. They scored, they won the first half. We knew we needed to score at least once in the second half,” Oblak told BT Sport.

“I wasn’t happy [conceding]. That’s football. Luckily it was only 1-0 and we scored in the second half. I think that’s the most important. You want the result. We lost but we go through so we can be happy about that.

“The clean sheet isn’t always possible. Today it was difficult. We know Bayern have amazing players in attack and it was difficult to keep a clean sheet. We needed to score as well, so in the end we didn’t need the clean sheet. That’s the most important.”

Atletico next play either Real Madrid or Manchester City and Oblak was asked if he has a preference.

“No. Since the beginning we haven’t had a preference. Before it was Barcelona, now Bayern, all great teams. City and Madrid are amazing teams, great teams, so it will be difficult,” he replied, echoing Fernando Torres.

“It’s just one game and anyone can win. It’s 90 minutes, maybe 120, and we’ll see what happens.”
