Torres ‘enjoying every day’

Fernando Torres admits he is grateful to have a second Atletico Madrid career and is ‘enjoying every day and every game.’

Torres left Vicente Calderon in the summer of 2007, joining Liverpool, spending three-and-a-half years at Anfield before a switch to Chelsea. He left Stamford Bridge for Milan in August 2014 but had only six months in Italy before making his return to his first club.

“I’m very happy to be having this time at Atletico. I enjoy every day, every game. When I returned I saw youngsters such as Koke or Saul Niguez who have gone on to win things and I have to learn from them, their mind-set, to be an Atletico champion.

“I still do, seeing how they have returned this club to where it deserves. I’m enjoying it, I want to experience every day. We live with the illusion of game-to-game, which has to take us to what we want.

“I’m grateful to the people who [made the return] possible. It was a time when I needed hope and there was no other way. Since that day I’ve tried to learn. I wouldn’t choose a different teammate to be in this situation with. The most important thing I’ve learned is that we die for each other.

“That’s the ideal to fight against Bayern Munich and to reach another final. Together we are strong, we fight the best and we’re considered to be one of them.”
