Jose Gonzalez felt Granada “deserve great credit” after they came back from two down to beat Las Palmas 3-2 in La Liga on Saturday.
Jonathan Viera’s early brace put Las Palmas in the driving seat, but goals from Ruben Rochina, Youssef El-Arabi and Ricardo Costa catapulted Granada out of the relegation zone with only two games remaining, albeit only a point clear of 18th-placed Getafe.
“We deserve great credit after coming back from 2-0 down,” the Coach said after the game.
“It was a very important win for both its significance and merit.
“In the second half, with a little heart, we were able to complete the comeback.
“I’m satisfied and proud of my players and our physical preparation showed because to come back from 0-2 against Las Palmas poses great physical demands.
“I never thought the game was lost because we’re a proud team.
“[Ruben] Rochina was tremendously important in the victory because his goal plugged us back into the game.
“[On suspicions of foul play from Las Palmas], we achieved a clean victory over opponents who came to win.
“I’m confident we’ll only talk about football for the rest of the season.”
