Pep: Kill me if Atleti beat us!

Pep Guardiola has given journalists permission to “kill” him if Bayern Munich are eliminated by Atletico Madrid from the Champions League semi-finals.

Bayern welcome Atleti to the Allianz Arena next week with a 1-0 deficit from the first leg, which was marred by Thomas Muller’s absence from their starting line-up, but Guardiola finds the criticism directed at him to be premature as “the tie isn’t over yet”.

“Everyone has killed me, but I’m still alive,” he said at a Press conference ahead of Bayern’s game against Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday, in which a win would secure them the Bundesliga title.

“We have another game left [in the tie], and if we lose it then you can kill me, but we still have a chance.

“[On Muller not starting], maybe it would’ve been better to play him [from the start], but I had to make a decision and it was nothing against him, just tactics.

“I didn’t want the same to happen to me as last season against Barcelona.

“Ultimately, I have to make decisions, but tie isn’t over yet. We’re still in it.”
