Torres: Nothing comparable to CL

Fernando Torres says “winning the Champions League is the only thing left for me to experience” at Atletico Madrid as “nothing would be comparable”.

Atleti will reach a second Champions League final in three seasons if they avoid defeat to Bayern Munich in the second leg of their semi-final or minimally score and lose by a one-goal margin, and Torres admits he is dreaming of European glory with his boyhood club.

“Winning the Champions League is the only thing left for me to experience here,” the striker, who won the trophy with Chelsea in 2012, told Radio Marca.

“Nothing would be comparable. Is it close? No, it’s like the League.

“[Bayern] are still the favourites, but we’re ready to compete against anyone.

“I like playing the second leg in the Champions League away.

“[On losing the final in 2014], the past is the past. I don’t think the Champions League owes us anything, but we have the opportunity to write history.

“I’ve known nothing about the national team for the past two years.

“I’d rather not talk [about Spain] because I’m not part of it at the moment. They better call Saul [Niguez, referring to the TV show].

“Playing and winning the Euros? [I’d prefer] winning against Rayo [Vallecano].

“We’re not aggressive or violent. We need be intense so we can improve our chances of winning.

“The best striker in Spain? I admire [Aritz] Aduriz.

“I would define [Diego Simeone] in three words: he’s a winner, wrestler and communicator.”
