Bartra future on back-burner

Marc Bartra is ready to put his Barcelona future to one side and concentrate on retaining La Liga but his agents, including Carles Puyol, are still working.

Mundo Deportivo reports that after going from Luis Enrique’s fifth-choice centre-back to getting minutes against Deportivo La Coruna and Sporting Gijon, Bartra isn’t considering the summer or next season, after it appeared he was bound to leave Camp Nou.

Fiorentina and Valencia are touted as options for the Spain international and his Barca contract ends in 2017, with a summit between the player, agents Puyol and Ivan de la Pena and the club at the end of the current campaign.

But until then it’s said that Bartra is distancing himself from speculation about his future, though because of the lack of playing time he has received, his escape clause is set at €12m.
