Godin suffers hamstring injury

Diego Godin has suffered a hamstring injury and isn’t expected to recover before Atletico Madrid play Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

AS reports the Uruguay international went down not under a challenge in the ninth minute of Atletico’s win over Athletic Bilbao, only a week before the Germans visit Vicente Calderon in the European semi-final.

It’s noted that Godin has suffered muscle injuries for more than a year and was expected to be out for a month from March 2015, though he made a quick comeback and took part in the Champions League quarter-final on April 5.

But with Bayern only a week away, Godin isn’t expected to recover in time and Lucas, who replaced him at San Mames, could be called into the first XI.
