Madrid waiting on Ronaldo tests

Real Madrid don’t yet know the extent of any injury Cristiano Ronaldo suffered late in the win over Villarreal.

Ronaldo left the pitch of his own accord in the 90th minute of the 3-0 victory against the Yellow Submarine, with AS reporting Zinedine Zidane had to ask his staff why the forward had departed, as Ronaldo didn’t inform anyone he was hurt.

The Portugal captain was clutching his right thigh after a heavy landing and it’s thought he may have only suffered cramp and as it stands isn’t ruled out of Saturday’s game against Rayo Vallecano, but is considered a doubt.

Ronaldo will undergo medical tests in the coming days to establish the problem, having had the afflicted area iced post-match. He also went into the water bath to prevent muscle inflammation.

Ronaldo’s early exit from the match brings an end to his run of not missing a minute of Madrid’s League programme, AS also points out.
