Bakambu ‘learning from Soldado’

Cedric Bakambu has thanked his Villarreal teammates for helping him to adapt quickly to La Liga, particularly Roberto Soldado.

Bakambu arrived at El Madrigal in the summer from Bursaspor and has four goals in his last four League games, for a total of 11 with six games still to play.

“I’m enjoying the moment because I play in a great team. I’ve adapted very quickly thanks to the help of my teammates. We’re a very united group and that has helped me adapt my style to the team,” he said, AS reports.

“We’re all well physically and we do good collective work. Without my teammates I’m nobody. I’m just trying to do my bit.

“I’ve scored a lot of goals lately. It’s the first time I’ve been in such a good run. I hope to go on and take advantage of my good form. I always thank Soldado when I score from his assists. I learn every day at his side.

“We have a great Coach. He’s demanding and he knows how to get the best from everyone. He makes us improve significantly.”

Bakambu stressed, however, that the Yellow Submarine still have a lot to play for this season and can’t relax yet, even as they sit fourth in the table and are near the Europa League semi-finals.

“We haven’t achieved anything. We’re going to keep playing each game to try and achieve the goals we have set,” he insisted.

“We know the Europa League [second leg against Sparta Prague] won’t be easy. The goal is to score, that would give us a good chance of progressing. We’re confident of reaching the semi-finals.”

Villarreal squad to play Sparta Prague:

Asenjo, Areola, Barbosa, Mario, Rukavina, Victor Ruiz, Bailly, Jaume Costa, Pablo Iniguez, Bruno, Pina, Trigueros, Denis Suarez, Castillejo, Samu Garcia, dos Santos, Soldado, Bakambu, Baptistao, Adrian.
