Krychowiak: Respect for Athletic

Grzegorz Krychowiak says Sevilla will greet Europa League opponents Athletic Bilbao ‘with respect’ and ‘the team is hungry.’

Sevilla have claimed the last two editions of the tournament and the Poland midfielder told a pre-match Press conference that their success hasn’t dulled their desire.

“This team is hungry, wants to win another trophy. We’ve won the last two years but that doesn’t mean anything,” Estadio Deportivo quotes Krychowiak as saying.

“The tie is 50-50, for me there are no favourites. We expect a strong rival. We have a lot of respect for Athletic. We know it won’t be an easy game.

“It will be decided by details and we will do everything to win and not concede.

“It’s important for the club to win another trophy and make history but we don’t think of that, only the game. We don’t think about anything else.

“They will be two games of high intensity. You have to know how to play these games.”

Sevilla’s away form has been in stark contrast to their strong results at home, and Krychowiak couldn’t explain why.

“It’s hard to explain. We’re working to win every game, at home as well. It’s a challenge to win [at San Mames]. We’ll try to play our best match and win,” he insisted.

“That’s what we’re concerned with. I think it’s something we’ll enjoy.”
